This message is very clearly summarize in Table 1 entitled “Regional Environmental Changes Observed by Inuit and Cree in the Hudson Bay Bio-region” is particularly informative as it presents a much more regionally variable pattern of change than reported in assessments such as the 2007 IPCC Statement for Policymakers.

With respect to “Weather”, Eastern Hudson Bay, Hudson Strait and Western Hudson Bay report on longer winters, while Northwestern Hudson Bay and Western James Bay report shorter and warmer winters. James Bay reports increased snowfall while the snow melts later in Hudson Bay.

Each area also reports on sky colar changes, with the Eastern Hudson Bay region reporting on the sun being blocked by haze. This supports the assumption of aerosol pollution transport from lower latitudes into this region. In terms of polar bears, three of the regions report on an increase in their population.
